V, BOLT, and HUSH, three members of a failed metal band, drift through a liminal space between life and death, languishing in the drudgery of the afterlife’s labor grounds. One day, the spirit of a young girl appears before them, a fan who tells them they are not yet dead, and that only their music can signal their return to the living world.
Frozen in cynicism and regret, the three are stirred back to life by this girl who still remembers their sound. Emotions long buried begin to surface. Their hearts start to beat again.
At last, on the grand stage of the underworld, they play their final metal performance, an eruption of past sacrifice, friendship, and the sheer will to live. And at the very crescendo of their set, they open their eyes in a hospital room back in the real world, as if touched by a miracle.
